The USVI has 4 large islands: St. Croix, St. Thomas, St. John and Water Island and 50 smaller ones. The BVI has 4 larger islands; Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke and Anegada and more than 30 smaller ones. The BVI is "nature's best kept secret."

The Virgin Islands have beautiful year round weather. From December to March, the temperature ranges from the mid-70s to high 80s with breezy evenings. July to October has average temps in the mid to upper 80s.

Sailing Itinerary Example

Our crew will customize your itinerary to your liking

Day 1

Embark at noon in St. Thomas at American Yacht Harbor, just a 25-minute ride from the St. Thomas airport (STT). Sip on welcome cocktails and settle into your cabins. Luar then sets out for a one hour sail to Saint John and anchors in beautiful Cinnamon Bay for a swim followed by dinner on board.

Day 2

After a leisurely breakfast depart for Leinster Bay, on St. John, for snorkeling, exploring and a hike to a sugar mill. Proceed to Soper's Hole, West End on Tortola for a lunch stop while the captain clears Luar into the British Virgin Islands.  Go ashore for some shopping or a bite if you like. Luar then heads north to Jost Van Dyke. Take the kayak or paddleboards to explore the idyllic beaches and then anchor in gorgeous White Bay for the evening. Dine on board or head over to Foxy’s Bar for dinner and music.

Day 3

After breakfast make a 30 minute sail to Sandy Cay, a perfect uninhabited small island fringed with coconut trees and white sand or to Sandy Spit, another perfect tropical island. Head to Guana Island for lunch. In the afternoon go snorkeling and explore the gorgeous reef at Monkey Point. Depart at 4pm for Marina Cay, a tiny island east of Tortola. Dinner on board at anchor.

Day 4

Lift anchor and sail to the North Sound of Virgin Gorda. Stop by Prickly Pear Island and visit the Sandbox Bar & Grill for a cocktail of lunch. Paddleboard or try some wakeboarding. Arrange a scuba dive or just go snorkeling around Necker Island, property of Sir Richard Branson. You will be thrilled by the reefs rich with an incredible variety of tropical marine life.

Day 5

Wake up early and head up to Anegada. Have the crew rent a truck and drive you to the north shore to visit Cow Wreck Beach and see the Horseshoe Reef, the largest barrier coral reef in the Caribbean, and the fourth largest on earth. Dine that night on world-famous Anegada lobster at one of the restaurants dotting the beach.

Day 6

After breakfast head south for a second visit to Virgin Gorda. This time visit the wonder of The Baths, the stunning natural attraction of the British Virgin Islands, with exotic pools and grottos formed by giant boulders strewn across sand beaches. The hidden rooms are pierced with shafts of light and super clear water. Continue to Manchioneel Bay on Cooper Island to find a family owned eco-resort. Here you can spend the afternoon browsing charming boutiques, coffee shops or even treat yourself to a massage at the Solé Spa.
